First Decade of the Millenium Passes and So Does Albert…

It is a sad but relieved start of the new year.  Suffering complications from Lou Gehrig’s disease, Al Petermann passed away early this new year’s morning.  As I mentioned in my earlier post, he was fading quickly.  His struggle and frustrations are thankfully over.  But in his true form, he managed to hang on until Jan. 1 to qualify for full VA benefits for his treatment.  Had he died yesterday, only 30 percent would have been granted.  He had a subversive side and I’m sure he went out pleased about that.  No service is planned.  Close friends and family will gather Sunday to celebrate his life and mourn his death.

We raise our new year glasses to you, Al.  We shall miss you, but we will remember and love you forever.
