Bearden’s, a hometown icon, is closing

What a bummer!  I lose my dad, then my aunt and now my favorite burger barn while growing up in Rocky River on Cleveland’s west side.  OK, that’s three bad events to close out the year.  That’s enough!  Bearden’s was THE drive-in hangout before there was McDonalds and Burger King.  It had carhops who delivered food to the car on a tray that attached to the car window.  Inside we would place our order and then watch the Lionel train run around the room along the ceiling while we waited.  The hamburgers were fresh ground beef on a toasted bun.  It was the only place I knew that had a peanut butter burger on the menu.
